The Upholstery and Design Studio is led by Georgina Brett Chinnery, a maker whose work has been shown at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and recognised with the Leathersellers' Award at Cockpit Arts.

Georgina's upholstery and leather work has featured in Vogue, the Financial Times' How To Spend It and The Times, and has appeared on screen - including Bridgerton Series 4, Mission Impossible & many more - with the studio working near Pinewood Studios. Georgina's commissions are held in private collections in the UK and abroad.

Sofa Reupholstery

A well-made sofa can last for decades, even when its fabric, fillings and upholstery are beginning to show their age. Professional sofa reupholstery can give a much-loved piece an entirely new life, while retaining the proportions, comfort and character that made it worth keeping in the first place.

Georgina undertakes complete reupholstery of traditional and contemporary sofas, carefully assessing each piece before deciding what work is required. Depending on its condition, this may involve stripping away the existing covering, replacing worn fillings and upholstery materials, making good the underlying structure where appropriate, and rebuilding the upholstery before applying the chosen new fabric or leather.

Fabric and finish can completely transform a sofa. Georgina works with clients to choose materials that suit both the furniture and the room it will live in — from understated natural fabrics to more distinctive colours, patterns and specialist leather.

Every project is considered individually rather than treated as a standard recovering job. The result is a sofa that looks appropriate to its setting, feels right to use and is beautifully finished for many more years of service.

A favourite armchair or beautifully made chair is often worth keeping, particularly when it has the right proportions, character or history but the upholstery has become tired or no longer suits your home. Professional chair reupholstery can completely transform a piece, restoring its comfort while giving it a fresh appearance for a new setting or interior scheme.

Georgina reupholsters traditional and contemporary armchairs, occasional chairs, dining chairs and individual statement pieces. Each chair is assessed before work begins and, where required, can be carefully stripped back so that worn upholstery materials, fillings and other elements can be addressed before the new covering is applied.

The choice of fabric or leather can make an enormous difference to a chair. Georgina works with clients to select materials, colours, patterns and finishing details that complement both the character of the furniture and the room around it. Her specialist experience with leather also allows for more unusual and individually detailed pieces.

From a much-loved family armchair to a set of dining chairs or an individual period piece, every chair is treated as an individual project and carefully finished by hand, preserving what is special about the furniture while creating something that feels at home in your interior today.

Leather Reupholstery

Leather can give a chair or sofa a completely different character, combining durability with a richness and depth that develops beautifully over time. Leather reupholstery is particularly suited to well-made furniture where the quality, proportions and character of the original piece are worth preserving.

Leather is one of Georgina's particular areas of expertise. With extensive experience working with hides across upholstery, interiors and her wider creative practice, she understands how different leathers behave, how they should be handled and how the choice of hide, colour and finish can influence the finished piece.

Georgina undertakes leather reupholstery of armchairs, sofas, dining chairs and individual statement pieces. Each project is assessed separately and, where required, the existing upholstery can be stripped back, worn materials and fillings addressed, and the piece carefully prepared before the new leather is cut, fitted and finished by hand.

Choosing the right leather is an important part of the process. From softer, more refined finishes to characterful hides that develop a natural patina with use, Georgina can help select a leather appropriate to the furniture, the way it will be used and the interior in which it will sit.

The result is not simply furniture that has been recovered in leather, but a carefully considered piece in which the material, craftsmanship and original character of the furniture work together.

Our studio is near Beaconsfield, and we work throughout the surrounding area, including: Gerrards Cross, Amersham, Burnham, Marlow, Chalfont St Giles, Chorleywood, Cookham and Henley-on-Thames.

We also work across Berkshire, including Windsor, Ascot, Sunningdale and Maidenhead, and with clients in West London, Kensington, Chiswick and Richmond, and across Surrey. Well placed for the M40 and M4, we're used to working with private clients, interior designers and developers wherever the project takes us.
